LABORATORY MANAGER

Our Marchwood Division is looking for a Laboratory Manager to join their team, based in Millbrook, Southampton. This is a great opportunity to help run a fantastic laboratory with a demanding business plan.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading the overall running of the Dioxins instrument laboratory and manage the analytical workload within the laboratory.
Ensuring sample testing is completed in a timely and safe manner in accordance with the requirements of the Quality Systems and Standard Operating Procedures.
Maintaining good communication channels with all staff within the department at all times and work closely with the Technical, Customer Services & QA Departments, supporting training, equipment maintenance and Health & Safety.
Supporting the GM with equipment evaluation and purchase, to maximise the analytical techniques that are UKAS accredited as part of a market protection strategy (increasing barriers to entry) and maintain great customer relationships.
Leading the team in every aspect of day-to-day management including planning and managing workloads to ensure the smooth running of the department so all samples are analysed in a timely and precise manner.
Carrying out method development, modification, verification and validation of all methods within the lab, with a strong focus on Dioxins and PCBs.
Improving the operations efficiency, make good use of IT to achieve high efficiency.
Supporting the development, implementation and optimal use of the Company’s Laboratory Information Management System and ensure its efficient usage at all levels of the laboratory to improve productivity and profitability.

Requirements for the role:

Previous experience of working with Dioxins instruments in a busy laboratory.
Understanding of relevant accreditations.
Previous experience of leading a team.
Excellent organisational skills, including organising own workload.
Exceptional Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Relocation will be considered.
