We recently launched our Grain Check Service which has been very well received with over 1200 samples having been submitted into the laboratory to date
The Grain Check service is a tool to help growers fine tune future nutrient management by reviewing the previous crops nutrient uptake.
NRM has been working with ADAS on their YEN project providing grain analysis since 2016 and the data collected suggests nearly 3 out of 4 grain samples are deficient in at least one nutrient. The data we have received so far backs this up with 66% of the grain samples we received being deficient in Phosphorus, 36% in Manganese and 53% of N:S Ratio results were below the critical value.
To enable growers get the most out of a Grain Check report, today we are launching a Grain Check Calculator, available at graincheck.nrm.uk.com.
This new service allows customers to calculate actual nutrient offtake in kg/ha. By taking the Phosphorus and Potassium results from the Grain Check report, and combining this with growers own records on crop yield and grain moisture content, an offtake value for P2O5 and K20 is calculated in kg/ha.
If you haven’t taken advantage of the Grain Check Service yet, get in touch with Rory Geldard on firstname.lastname@example.org or 07917 064591 to ensure you’re equipped with the kit and information you need to start sending samples in.
