NRM has been awarded ISO certification for both its environmental management and health & safety systems across both its Bracknell, Berkshire and Swaffham, Norfolk sites.
The independent analytical provider has earned its ISO 14001:2015 standard, which aids organisations in improving their environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and reductions of waste.
“We always look for ways to ensure a low carbon future at NRM and our dedication to protecting a better environment is only accelerating,” said NRM’s General Manager, Paul Taylor. “By achieving the ISO 14001:2015 certification, NRM is demonstrating its continuous commitment to achieve the environmental standards that its clients, employees and all stakeholders expect.”
Mr Taylor continues “we are a highly accredited laboratory with a large number of industry accreditations, we perform over 1 millions tests per year across a very wide range of agricultural and environmental analytical requirements and we are committed to continue in extending our accreditation coverage to reflect current and future market requirements”
ISO 14001:2015 is an internationally agreed standard that certifies the organisation has management systems in place which enable it to protect the environment in an effective and consistent manner. The standard charges NRM with environmental responsibility at all levels, from neighbours to local authorities, as well as national and international obligations.
Further to achieving the environmental management certification, NRM has also achieved ISO 45001: 2018 certification which demonstrates a strict compliance with Occupational Health and Safety procedures to ensure employee safety, reduce workplace risks, and create safer working conditions. The standard surpasses many existing health and safety standards due to its development by a committee of occupational health and safety experts and the inclusive awareness of other similar international standards. This combination makes it one of the most valuable Health and Safety Management Systems to date.
Dr Kieran McNally, NRMs Compliance Manager comments “This is a fantastic achievement and we are delighted we have successfully achieved certification, confirming our commitment and adherence to our existing rigorous quality management procedures. H&S has always been an integral part of our business and we recognise the risks and challenges that operating within a laboratory presents. We hope the latest certification brings further confidence to our customers that they are dealing with a company always looking to improve and build upon its experience.”
Dr McNally continues “The addition of both ISO 45001 and 14001 to NRM’s certification demonstrates our commitment to achieving the highest standard in the best possible way, whether that is analytically, environmentally or staff experience”.
