OVER £500,000 IN UPGRADES AT MARCHWOOD’S MANCHESTER AIR QUALITY LABORATORY

Recently acquired by Cawood Scientific, Marchwood has invested over £500,000 in the facility continuing to strengthen its position at the heart of occupational hygiene testing.

Cawood Scientific Managing Director, Simon Parrington, explains “We were delighted to acquire the Marchwood business in March and immediately backed the business with additional personnel and the latest technology and equipment. We want to be able to not just maintain the current levels of service but to enhance and improve on the offerings to our customers, the latest investments in Marchwood will keep us on track to achieving this”.

Peter Allen, General Manager explains “staying up to date with new and evolving technologies to ensure continuity of our high-quality service is key. This is achieved by not only investing in the best technology, but also the most valuable resource at any company – the staff. We have recently invested in several new colleagues, all with valuable and relevant sector experience”.

The investment has included significant new technology within the laboratory including:
• Multiple Thermal Desorption GC-MS (TD GC-MS)
• Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer (GCMS QQQ)
• LCMS
• GCMS Headspace
• Multiple GC-MS
• Ion Chromatography (IC)
• High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
• Carbon Analyser

These are all operational and ready for samples. The equipment is also backed up by analytical instrumentation situated at the other Marchwood sites.

“The experienced staff and additional equipment will allow us to not only expand the service capability but also improve upon the service we currently provide. The increased capacity brings with it what every customer would like, improved turnarounds” states Peter Allen, General Manager.
